(3/1/24) Update! Using a combination of remedies, I was able to bring to peace to a home with three cats. In the beginning, all the cats seemed to be getting along fine and sharing the same space. At some point, one of the cats attacked another and from that point on, the cats would not stay in the same space. The “victim cat” retreated to a room on the second floor and would not come out. The “bully cat” even tracked her down and attacked her again in her space. It took several weeks and a series of combinations for all the cats, but they are all now living peacefully side by side.
Another person adopted a female pit bull from a rescue. He was told that she was cat friendly and a sweet dog. When I met her, she was still adjusting to being in a new home. She would shiver with her tail down between her legs when presented with new situations. She and the resident cat seemed to get along very well from the beginning. The problem was her fear of new people and dogs when she was walking. She got a blend to help her adjust to the change, reduce her fear of the unknown and help her bond to her new human guardian. She now walks happily, tail high, without fear and without shivering.

(9 /23/23) Update! I have completed my training and have been accepted as a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner. This has been a two year journey where I have learned a deeper knowledge of the Bach remedies and a greater appreciation for how they work. I have also been introduced to many like minded individuals all over the world. Their input to my learning has helped me more than they will know.
Bach Flower Remedies
Dr. Bach received his diplomas to become a doctor in 1912. In London, he was a surgeon, bacteriologist, pathologist and did research into vaccines. During his work with vaccines, he did not like the way doctors were concentrating on diseases and ignoring the “whole person.” He wanted to find a more holistic approach to medicine.
His early research focused on bacteria, but he began looking for a purer remedy that did not rely on “products” of the disease. He began collecting and researching flowers. Years of trial and error, testing thousands of plants, he found the remedies he was searching for. Each aimed at a particular mental state or emotion. He found that by treating the personalities, the unhappiness and physical distress would relax naturally at the healing potential of the body was cleared and allowed to work.

Now, almost 100 years after Dr. Bach completed his work, so many things have changed. There have been rapid advances in technology. However, we still have emotions. We still experience fear, uncertainty, joy, hope and many more emotions that can help or hinder our everyday lives. It is the simplicity and purity of the Bach Remedies that makes them relevant today.
Why I chose to study the Bach Remedies
I was introduced to Bach Remedies with Rescue Remedy for animals. I was volunteering as a veterinary surgery recovery assistant and noticed that some of the animals would come out of the anesthesia fearful and crying. I did not want the animals to think that going to a veterinarian’s office was bad so I began looking for ways to help them through this state.
I found Rescue Remedy and began using it with dogs and cats. I learned that certain breeds of dogs were more susceptible to anesthesia. Chihuahuas and Huskies seemed to be most sensitive to the light and noise around them. I started using the spray on the dogs when I removed the trach tube, before they woke up. I noticed a significant decline in the howling post-op. When several puppies from the same litter came through the clinic, other assistants would monitor them and not use Rescue Remedy. The puppy that received Rescue Remedy woke up nicely while the others woke up howling.
In 2021, I decided to learn more about the Bach Flower Remedies and began study to become a Bach Practitioner. I wanted to learn more about this “magic potion” that could calm a fearful animal. I found out that there was much more to the Bach Remedies than Rescue Remedy.
I finished the Level 1 training in October of 2021. My husband had a stroke in December of that year and passed away 7 days later. I was facing the fact that I was alone and had to make medical decisions, funeral arrangements, financial and legal decisions in a state of trauma and grief. I remembered that the Bach Remedies were developed for humans and I began taking Rescue Remedy for myself. Taking Rescue Remedy helped me to survive those first few months. I did not feel drugged or disoriented. I was able to make it through all the hospital visits and funeral arrangements.
My journey had started to find a way to reduce fear in animals. It was that knowledge that helped me to overcome my own trauma and fear. I also came to understand that the Bach Remedies heal something that is common to humans and pets.
